Today is the first day at my working plce after the long Christmas Holidays. I spent them rather cool with family, relatives, my best friends. So I was accomponied by only the dearests and nearests to my heart all these days. As for the activities we were travelling around Florida and California. So have a good start of the year!!!

How I love Christmas Time and this Holiday! Before the Christmas Eve it's a busiest time of the year and the lovliest one! I adore to go shopping, choose presents, admire the illumination and decorations, making plans for the nearest holidays and organise the party.

I "Can't Remember What I Forgot"...

I've just read an interesting psychological book "Can't Remember What I Forgot"by Sue Halpern where it's possible to derive some interesting facts how to improve the memory.
You'll probably agree with me that it always happens so that you forget some important information in short period of time. You know that we use only 3% of our brain and we should constantly improve it using different methods.
The psychologists advise to do not only crosswords' puzzles (though it's also a great trainer for the brain) but also learn rhymes, poems or just some material.
One online set of "brain" exercises was one that promised to help me improve my "digit span." A digit span is a string of random numbers, like 23938393835575, that one can hold in one's memory. Typically people can remember 7 numbers going forward and six in reverse. Testing digit span--which happens, for instance, when you take an IQ test--is a way of getting at how good your working memory is. It stands to reason that the longer the span you can recall, the better your memory. It also stands to reason that you can both boost your memory and increase your IQ if you can increase the number of numbers you can recall.

World AIDS Day

Today is the 1st of December. It's wonderful as it's the first winter day or the last month in the year and the Christmas is coming soon. It's great!
But on the other hand, it's one more date today, World AIDS Day. It is common to hold memorials to honor persons who have died from HIV/AIDS on this day. I think it's very important. Besides, this day is also called "Day Without Art (DWA)" as the national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis.
No one deserves to die from AIDS.

I'd like to wish Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. It's one of the greatest holidays in the US.
As for me, I spent it together with my family and the other two days (weekends) I was in the country with my best friends having picnic and riding a horse. It was fantastic!

I like to apply for credit cards whenever I can. Though some of my friends tell me that that is a bad idea because they will then spend a lot of money if they have many credit cards. I don't have this problem because I don't see how having many credit cards is related to the amount of money I spend shopping.
The other problem is that it's very difficult to choose the BEST credit card (e.g. Blue from American Express®) as the majority of my friends assume. The way out is simple. Just follow the instruction while choosing:

An annual percentage rate is less than 11%.
Reasonable penalty terms.
Better choose No Annual Fee Credit Card.
Low rates on other loans such as cash advances or balance transfers.

In fact, the banks usually refuse from the annual fee charges for one or two years. Futher, people either ask for a waiver by calling customer service, or they cancel the card. And I think there is just no reason to pay any annual fees unless one really likes the credit card in question and refuses to part with it.

My Love Is Ruined... How to live?!

I can't understand a person, his behavior I mean, though I'm a future psychologist.
In fact, I fell in love with a person in April, he seems to be a usual man, rather handsome, clever, interesting to communicate. He struck me by his creativity, ability to surprise, his original sense of humour. He seemed to fall in love with me at first sight. In summer we spent unforgettable 2 weeks holidays. His ability to write wonderful sms made me crazy about him as they were unique and WoW. I could publish a book with them one day... So, since that time I couldn't (and still can't) imagine life without him.
But 1 month ago everything changed, he lets me know about himself very-very rare (it's a happyness if I recieve an sms from him once a week) and all sms are rather usual, that everything is very bad (he has problems with work, doesn't go in for sport and he's got a great depression). All this time I try to support him but his reaction is strange.
I really don't know what to do...

A Letter to The Future!

Yesterday, surffing the Internet, I discovered an interesting website www.FutureMe.org. It is very unique and unusual as with the help of it everybody will have an opportunity to make wishes come true. You are writing a letter to yourself with the vision how you will look like in the future, e.g. after some months or a year, or a decade... Then you send this letter to yourself pointing the date when do you like to recieve it and on that very date you will get this letter. Here it's possible to write some thoughts or something about the life as in a diary, maybe plans for the future or just a greeting with the celebration.
So, it's a great wonder to know how we could be in the neareast or far future.

You will probably agree with me that our life depends on a network of friends. You may pride yourself on your independence and on being self-sufficient but the meaning of the people that are around us is undoubtedly very important. If they’re the right people – they help us grow and develop, and live life to the full. They may be challenging, supportive, even demanding, but they keep us engaged and on track.
Our friends play different roles in our lives – as psychologists say some of them are mentors, the others are confidantes, or maybe partners in crime– but with the people we need around us, we can know ourselves better, and bring out the best in us.
As for me, I have a few real friends whom I can rely on and they are confidantes and what about yours?

Wikipedia is a Book Now

In our centure of high technology printed books are still in fashion and extremely popular. So, yesterday I learnt that Wikipedia, the online encyclopaedia written by volunteers, has just gone on sale in Germany, Berlin. Now people who prefer turning pages to clicking links have a great opportunity to use it as they need. Of course, it's impossible to publish a book containing all the information in it, so, editors chose the most popular entries in the German version of Wikipedia into the 1,000-page volume. I think it's great but it's a pity thatI don't know German. I hope that English vertion of the book will also appear soon in our bookstores.

They say: "First love yourself and all others will love you." It's very important for the health how you treat and care yourself. Caring yourself is putting yourself first. There are some good advices how to be in peace and harmony with yourself that really work.
First: TIME. It's the most valuable present for anybody. It's very important to find some time being alone each day(even if it's 5-7 minutes only).
Second: YOUR BODY. Try to treat your body with kindness and respect. It's nice, for instance, to drink water, get fresh air, eat fruit and meat, go to bed early (even once a week), enjoy things that are around you, find time for your hobby (evn once a week), etc.
Third: the BEGINNING of the day. Start every day with a smile on your face.
Fourth: Don't forget your friends. Phone someone you care about for no reason other than to say, ‘Hello, I was thinking of you.’
Fifth: Enjoy simple pleasures and relax. It's nice to make for yourself some little presents: to buy books, for example.
I try to follow all these advices, though it's not so easy. The best life insurance in the world cannot be bought. And any money could help to improve health.

Walking and Riding a Bicycle Instead of Eating Out.

I admitted the other day that I'm eating out too much for lunch after coming back home from work. So, i decided to stop this trand and start a healthy style of life. I try to have a walk jorney to my work, though it takes me 45 minutes now, every evening I spend riding a bike for 1 hour (if the weather is nice), not having a lunch is my motto of life now (but it's VERY difficult). The first reason was I wanted to burn some calories. I felt like I didn’t have any time to do anything with my schedule and noticed lunch was a bit open ( I had an hour for lunch). The second reason was I was spending too much money eating out.
I hope it'll help me and my health.

A friend of mine has just come back from China rather resting and satisfied with the trip. She brought many presents and different sorts of tea. In fact, after visiting China she became a tea addict and she even learnt ceremony how to brew tea. I was shocked and I'm still at this state since this Sunday (maybe becouse of it I didn't write anything so long)...
Russia is rather far from the US but the sorrow of the tragedy is very close to my heart...
A simple Russian city that is near the Ural mountains became famous all over the world at one moment: a passenger jet traveling from Moscow to the Ural Mountains city of Perm crashed while preparing to land early Sunday, killing all 88 people aboard including citizens of the U.S., France, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Latvia, officials said. The pilots were so pofessional that were able to avoid some more victims on the ground. It was a real wonder, made by the pilots, as they could direct the burning plane away from buildings and it crashed into an unpopulated area of the city, just a few hundred yards from residential buildings on the railway, and some part of the Trans-Siberian railway was also shut down as a result of the rail damage.
I can't discribe my feelings now as it's very difficult for me...

Surfing the internet and looking for some information for my work I came across an interesting facts about one of the wonders of the world, the Pyramids. The Pyramids provided to be paper white and as smooth as glass, toping the pyramid was a golden capstone that gleamed in the desert sun. It was an amazing spectacle. WoW!

The pyramids somewhat stayed in this state until the Arab invasion of Egypt around AD 500. The Arab invaders stripped the pyramid of it's smooth limestone and built a huge section of Cairo. Many of the Mosques and Palaces of Cairo consist of the Ancient stones of the pyramids. Quite sad actually.
The Pyramids are smooth as glass and white as paper now. Moreover, wars that took part at the territory of Egypt (Cairo) partly distroyed them as some of the pyromids don't have a top at all.
It's is very-very sad!

Pleasant Moments Reading Books!

I ADORE raining weather as it's Sooooo great to listen to the sound of drops knocking on a window!
At these wonderful moments I'm spending free time sitting in the armchair and reading my favourite books. Now I'm reading and enjoying the book by Nicholas Sparks "The Lucky One". It's a Women's Romance Book that seems to be a heart-wrenching, amazingly love story.
It's incredibly to dream about wonder and love wile the weather is resting!

Shopping! Shopping... hmmm shopping....
For me, it's always a big problem to go shopping as I have no time becouse of my work. But if at last I find time for doing this activity, I can't choose a suitable size or colour of the clothes or style... Ufff...Especially it's difficult to do shopping for shoes, but as the winter is coming I should go shopping these days.
Ok, I'll try to pluck up my spirit, invite my best friend Sara to keep my company and we will go shopping as this activity puts people in a good mood!!!

Lifelike Songs of James Blunt!

Yesterday I bought a CD of my favourite James Blunt! WoW his songs are really amazing and wonderful! His song "Tears and Rain" shows a real love of a man, describing his feelings to a girl, his state being alone. The song "Same Mistake" is possible to hear in the movie "P.S. I love You" that displays men's phychology, emotional experience. I can't get rid of the tune of this song. It's worth listening to again and again!!! Now his songs are always with me at home, at work and even while travelling! I guess his breakout hit "You are Beautiful" made nobody indifferent to his masterpieces and proves that he is a talented singer as well as a song-writer!

My Travelling in Egypt!

These words approach to my travelling around Egypt this summer! I spent unforgettable days there where I had a great opportunity to entertain, rest, find new friends and emotions!
So they were 15 days of my Egyption adventures (said with extreme happiness).
Egypt was an amazing experience. And I feel like that doesn't say enough.
I'm so incredibly thankful for all the friends I made in Egypt, many became some of my closest friends :D, and also of course our Egyptian friends who always understood our 'western-ness' and were patient with us, and showed us what egypt is like for them.
ok, Egypt...what did I learn...
It's always so hard to describe Egypt. "you just have to go there!" I tell people. The little corner store below our apartment, and the store guys who get all smiles when we come in and proceed to quiz us on our Arabic skills.
The electronics shop, where I was sure they were just going to start cutting wires and just build me an RCA cord then and there. The 'sketchy kofta place'....I forgot I was going to take some people there! The grumpy fruit guys in front of our building, and how happy it made me when I actually got them to smile. The sugar cane juice guy. The juice bars. the big green buses, with people jumping off and jumping on at their stop (while the bus is still running of course...I did it once...it was fun!) the busy bustling bus stop, people asking me where I need to go, the scribbled arabic writting on the buses making it hard for me to know which one to take. The little white minibuses zooming about, people pouring in and out, huge trays of bread swishing over my head as a bicycle whirrs past me, skilled-bike-man carrying the tray on his head. The call to prayer going off...all one hundred within ear-shot going off at once...at 4am, 12pm, 3pm, dinner time, and sunset. The girls school having a morning rally at ten till 8, with a song that sounded like jinglebells. Those are just a few of the many things that make up a typical day in Egypt...
And of course the wonderful Red Sea with peaceful beaches of a smal town Dahab, with great nature, seafood restaurants, kind and helpful people!
I want to come back here again one day!!!
I hope my wish'll come true!

Olympics 2008

"Faster, Higher, Stronger" became the main motto for almost all people in the world, especially for sportsmen who are taking part in the Olympics. Sport lovers are discussing the main events in Pekin City, success and fails of their favourite sportsmen (sportsmen of their country).
People count the medals, as for them it's very important what place their country is in the list .
As for me I became an Olympics adict, I can't loose an opportunity to watch my favourite synchronized swimming, volleyball, football or gymnastics in order not only to know the results of the championships but to watch the real show of the athlets. And it's always a real proud for them when they recieve medals (gold medals espessially), but only they know what a price of their winnings...
It's a great pity that sometimes the scores of sportsmen in a tuornament are low or sometimes they are not into consideration at all.
Moreover chinese athlets seem to be the most welcomed in these games...

So let all the jury be fair and give only the scores that sportsmen really deserve.
